Surakarta is always been my favorite city. This city will always have a special place in my heart since i lived there for a few years back then. The quiet vibes always lead me to a peaceful mind.
After finishing kindergarten there, my parents moved to Yogyakarta so i took elementary school until collage in Yogyakarta. Eversince then, i often visit Surakarta when i have spare time either for holidays or visiting my relatives.
A few days ago, i went to Surakarta with my Collage friend for Lecture Observation. To get there, i took train from Yogyakarta to Surakarta, it only costs 8k/person and it takes around one hour.
After we get there, our first destination is Pasar Gedhe Hardjonagoro. In Pasar Gedhe you can get a various types of traditional food in Surakarta. For me, I tried the famous "Es Dawet" called "Es Dawet Telasih Bu Dermi". People said, Mr. Jokowi used to buy es dawet there before running for president. It was his favourite food!
Even though it is located on a plot of land inside the market, Es Dawet Telasih Bu Dermi is never empty of customers and the price isn't expensive it's only cost 10k.
After trying Es Dawet Telasih, Our second destination is Keraton Surakarta, but unfortunately, we don't get the chance to exploring inside the Keraton because on Friday they are close for Public. So we ended up strolling around outside the Keraton. After that, we decide to go to Pasar Triwindu Ngarsopuro or also known as Triwindu Ngarsopuro Antique Market. Yes, they sell Antique stuff.
although the apparent scent of dust, rust, and mold can make us occasionally sneeze but, if you're interested into Antique stuff, i'd recommend you to visit this market because they have various type of antique stuff such as door bell with unique shape or hanging lamp, etc.
The market is full of ornaments hung on the ceilings and so many antiques displayed spill onto the visitors' path. If you're wondering how was the atmosphere in Triwindu Market, the atmosphere of Triwindu market is identic with the touch of Javanese architecture.
I took a few shoot during my visit in Triwindu Market :
Our last destination during this trip is De Tjolomadoe. De Tjolomadoe is an old sugar factory transformed into a historical landmark, and convention center. De Tjolomadoe consists of the museum area, Tjolomadoe concert hall, Sarkara multi-function hall, restaurants, and retails where you can buy souvenirs. For entering the Museum, you have to pay 25k/person.
